1. What this site records
Darknet Site is an independent research and awareness initiative. We exist to inform analysts, journalists and security teams about anonymous online ecosystems — not to profile individuals. The data we collect is limited to what is required to keep the site running.
- Server access logs: standard request logs containing IP address, timestamp, request URL, user agent and referrer. These are kept for a short rolling window strictly for abuse mitigation and capacity planning.
- Aggregated statistics: anonymous counters of page views and search queries, used to measure interest in different topics. No personal identifiers are stored.
- Form submissions: data you choose to provide via the contact or comment form (name, email, message). Without an explicit submission, we receive nothing.
2. What we deliberately avoid collecting
- We do not sell, rent or share visitor data with advertising networks.
- The site has no third-party tracking pixels and no browser fingerprinting in place.
- Reading the catalog requires no account, no login and no wallet address.
- We do not track which .onion services you visit elsewhere — that activity stays between you and Tor.
3. Cookies on this site
Cookies are used only where strictly required — for instance, a session cookie when you submit a form, or a preference cookie when you toggle a UI option. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear cookies at any time without losing access.
4. Services from external providers
We make use of a limited set of third-party services strictly for technical reasons:
- Hosting and CDN: the hosting/CDN provider sees traffic in order to serve pages — broadly the same data as the access logs above.
- Web fonts: fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser may share its IP with Google. You can block third-party fonts in your browser without breaking the page — system fonts will be used as a fallback.
- Search engines: the site is indexed by mainstream search engines, helping researchers locate the catalog. What those engines record about your searches is outside our control.
5. Use by minors
Darknet Site is meant for adult professional and academic audiences. The site is not for children, and we do not knowingly gather data from minors. If you are below the age of majority in your jurisdiction, please leave this site.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to view, correct or erase personal data we hold, and to object to certain processing. Since we deliberately keep collection minimal, there is usually nothing identifiable to act on. If you submitted a form and want your data removed, contact us through the link below.
7. How we protect data
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data, including HTTPS for all traffic, hardened server configuration and regular monitoring. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please apply your own operational hygiene when corresponding with us — especially over the public internet.
8. Policy amendments
We may revise this policy occasionally to reflect technology, regulation or operational changes. Material updates will be marked here with a refreshed "Last updated" date. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
9. Contact us
Privacy or data-handling enquiries can be sent through the contact form with a relevant subject. We aim to reply in good time and never use form submissions for marketing.
